'Rumor Roundup' Roundup - Net iMac?
MacOS Rumors and ThinkSecret have posted their "Rumor Roundup's" for this MacWorld Expo. I won't bore you with the details - but the bottom line is that no one seems to have any new information. Both reports are basically rehashes of what is already known... with even a digging up of Apple Handheld rumors.
The only interesting piece brought together is this: MacOS Rumors hints at new undisclosed hardware:
Apple has gone to extreme lengths to provide security for certain products that will be announced at the Expo -- apparently hardware products that are not an iMac, Cube, PowerMac, Powerbook, or iBook, nor a completely non-computer device.
and ThinkSecret claims:
One reliable source mentioned the possibility of some sort of surprise related to iMacs, but there is no other information leading us to believe this.
I can't help that this ThinkSecret "source" is spawned from this forum thread which claims something we haven't heard about in a while - the NetPC. Ellison's been remarkably quiet lately, and the NetPC rumors have pretty much died off. Now, Bulletin Board threads are notoriously unreliable... but the only thing is... for the first time, a Net-iMac makes sense. With Mac OS X as a server OS, as well as Apple's new penetration into schools with PowerSchool... things seem to be in place moreso than ever before. Likelyhood? unlikely... Very interesting however.
