Intel, Vanderpool and Mac OS X on Intel?

In an interview with ZDNet, Intel CEO Craig Barrett floats the possibility of using upcoming technology known as Vanderpool to run multiple operating systems (including Mac OS) on one machine.

Intel's Vanderpool processor design was previewed in September and permits the creation of "virtual machines" in one processor, allowing users to run multiple instances of operating systems on the same machine.

In a demonstration, Otellini used a PC to beam an episode of "The Simpsons" to a plasma TV, while another Intel executive booted and rebooted a game with the same machine.

This technology is not due for release for about five years, and would still require Apple's participation to actually get Mac OS X running on the new architechture.
