OS X Lion Up to Date - Lion Free for Recently Purchased Macs

by

osxlion
Apple's OS X Lion Up to Date program which allows qualifying customers to get a free copy of Lion is now active. Customers who purchased a Mac after June 6th can receive a free redemption code for OS X Lion from the Mac App Store.

The program was activated yesterday, but there had been reports that the activation server was having issues resulting in serial numbers being initially rejected.

Requests must be sent in prior to August 19th or 30 days after the purchase of your Mac, whichever is later.

Now I feel like an idiot, mine didn't work yesterday and I just bought Lion. Oh well, that's $29 wasted for being impatient.
Same here! I sent an email to costumer support and waiting for a reply. I hope we will get refunded. I bought my MBP on 3rd, but wasn't register for Applecare until 9th and didn't know for sure I was eligible or not.

Maybe you could write to Customer Service and request a refund?

Yeah I guess I'll try that, thanks for the suggestion!

Worked great both times

Entered my receipt info, got the activation code and redeemed it no problems for my new MBP. I was even able to use it for installation on my 2 year old iMac under the Purchased section of the Mac App Store.
