Apple Stops Signing iOS 10.3.3 and iOS 11.0, Downgrading No Longer Possible

by

IPSWFollowing the release of iOS 11.0.1 and iOS 11.0.2 on September 26 and October 3, respectively, Apple has stopped signing both iOS 10.3.3 and iOS 11.0, the previous versions of iOS that were available to consumers.

iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners who have upgraded to iOS 11.0.1, iOS 11.0.2, or iOS 11 will no longer be able to downgrade to the iOS 10.3.3 operating system.

Apple routinely stops signing older versions of software updates after new releases come out in order to encourage customers to keep their operating systems up to date.

iOS 11.0.1 and iOS 11.0.2 are now the only versions of iOS 11 that can be installed on iOS devices by the general public, but developers can download iOS 11.1, a future update that is being beta tested and will be released in the near future.

“Downgrading No Longer Possible”

Wrong. For the last few years every iOS version has felt like a downgrade. Then we have point updates until it is ‘perfected’ and then weeks later the latest iOS version is released and the whole process starts all over again.

This is what planned obselesence looks like.

"New OS running like a dog on your old hardware, want to roll back? Well you cant, better buy our fancy new device for $1000 + $200 from last year for no good reason, +$300 becasue you live in Australia and we can".

Is it really too much to wait until 11.1 before sunsetting 10.3?

Just downgrade my 6s yesterday. 10.3.3 is so much smoother and faster.

I think someone should start a class action for permanently removing the ability to run legacy apps.

It's PS3/OtherOS all over again.
