I've had the distinct displeasure of having to use the OEM Nissan system in a couple of rentals over the years. CarPlay is a huge improvement, and this scenario is exactly what its intended for - replacing the more annoying/poorly designed systems that some auto manufacturers use (I'm looking @ you, Lexus/Toyota).

Now, if only their cars were ever worthy of more than rental fodder... (GTR excluded of course)

Meh. People buy cars that rely 100% on gas? Wake me when Nissan sticks this is a hybrid (not the Leaf...) that gets decent Prius-like mileage
Yes. If I were to buy a new car tomorrow, it would be 100% ICE.

What was wrong with the sentra and altima? I was considering getting one of them as I need a good fuel efficient vehicle for work because I have a long commute for my job. I got me a 2017 Ford Explorer but the 20 mpg on it sucks.

The problem with most of the plug in hybrids I looked at that aren't Tesla all look like they are made for kids or econo boxes for people on welfare.
They're just utterly horrible cars. No high speed stability (70+), gutless engines and an absolutely awful CVT. Their interiors leave much to be desired as well.

Need a good, fuel efficient vehicle? Try the Mazda 6. I drove one of the newer models, and while not quite like my E90 335i, it reminded me a lot of the older BMW 5ers (think 1997-2003 models). Good road feel, taut but not harsh suspension, and excellent directional stability. Their interiors were quite a bit better than the Walmart quality Nissans as well. The Volvo S60 is also an excellent choice; the 2014+ T5 routinely returns 40ish mpg highway for my friend's mother, (she does a lot of highway miles @ around 80 mph) and they have some of the best seats put in a production car. A CPO model carries a 7 year, 100K mileage warranty, and they can be had in the low 20s/high teens.

you're comparing a sub-$20k or less nissan, to a $30k+ bmw. two different cars, aimed and two different buyers.
I'm comparing the Nissan to a Mazda. Both in roughly the same price bracket. The BMW comparison was to underscore how well the Mazda performs.
