Whoever is considering these iMacs shall remember that the 21.5 inch ones cannot upgrade the RAM.
Only the 27 inch model has user upgradable RAM.

Good discounts, but I would BTO an iMac purchase because I don’t find a spinning hard drive (fusion or otherwise) acceptable in 2019.

You can replace them with SSD’s. I’ve done it on 4 different iMacs so far.
Sure, but then you have to pay for the ssd, so subtract that from the savings. and then you need the time and the know-how to do it, and you risk voiding the warranty if you screw it up.

It’s a good option for those who want it, but it’s hardly a magic-bullet solution.

Good discount, but as fast as Apple obsoletes their hardware, 2 year old design has a limited life ahead.
Yeah, every computer has a "limited life ahead". Let us all know when you find a computer that has an unlimited life ahead :)

For some real-world context, I'm typing this on a 2012 Macbook Pro that's running Mojave quite nicely, and is on the approved list for Catalina. That'll probably be the last MacOS release it can run, but by then the machine will be 8 years old.

Eight years of running a current MacOS -- Apple actually has a fairly generous window of support. And there'll be nothing stopping me from running Catalina on it for at least a couple more years if it meets my needs. So this Mac may have had a decade run when all's said and done? Not unlimited, but not bad.

I bought a refurb 2017 27 inch, 3.8 i5 last december.
I do love the machine and dont regret the purchase but had I known new models would be out 5 months later and huge discounts on still-new 2017 models would be avail 7 months later, I probably would have waited.

Just need to be happy with my iMac and not worry about it.
