Apple CEO to Address Employees at Virtual Company-Wide Meeting Later This Month

Apple CEO Tim Cook will hold a company-wide virtual meeting later this month for employees to ask questions about working-from-home arrangements that have been put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple sent a note to staff on Wednesday advising them of the plan.

It asked that questions be submitted by end of day on Saturday and also encouraged workers to share their experiences of working through the disruption to daily life that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought about. The specific date of the meeting has not yet been disclosed.

Apple last week informed employees that its retail stores in the United States will remain closed until early May, and Apple employees will continue to work from home until then.

In Santa Clara County, where Apple Park, Infinite Loop, and many other corporate offices and retail stores are located, there is a shelter in place order that will remain in effect until May 3.

The order prevents all nonessential businesses from being open and requires employees to work from home. Apple's corporate offices will not be able to reopen until that order is lifted.

Apple continues to review its flexible work arrangements in light of the latest guidance from local governments and public health experts.

In an earlier memo to employees, Apple said it was particularly focused on ensuring parents have the flexibility to adjust their schedules as necessary, with many children no longer able to attend school.

No no, I have it in good authority that nothing happens at Apple unless it is detailed here first. Therefore, this will be your first virtual meeting.

What exactly is going on with their automotive team? What’s the product there? Are they going to be licensing a self-driving OS to car companies or what? Is there a hardware product? What’s it look like & what are the specs?
Tell me more about the AR/VR plans.
Does the inclusion of tof cameras & wigig in the 2020 iPad Pro & higher tier 2020 iPhones mean that they will be able to interact with/control those upcoming AR/VR products?

There’s a couple Apple secrets competition would LOVE to have answers to.

Each of those products represent new multi billion dollar markets...
There’s DEFINITELY some exposure here for for Apple, if these products weren’t halted & are now being worked on in insecure locations (employee’s homes).

In a way, this ‘meeting’ also seems like more of a way for employees to kind of decompress by explaining their own life changes they’ve had to make with work life/personal Alterations life given the circumstances. If you think about it, a lot of these employees are out of touch with each other where they’re not conversing, collaborating or working with each other on a daily basis as they had been, and The adjustments have been polarizing to the point where I don’t think this is a ‘Question only’ round table, but rather a way of how the employees have coped during this transition, And what lies ahead how Apple will continue to conform these economic changes With the uncertainty of a timeframe that no one really knows when things will ‘normalize’.

As large as a company as Apple is, I think it’s Beneficial that they have this ‘virtual meeting’, because there are a lot of questions/concerns employees have, that Apple probably doesn’t even have all the answers yet Due to the pandemic really is a ‘day-by-day’ basis, but at least there showing that they value the employees input in some form or fashion.

I wonder what video conferencing they use since Facetime has a limit of 32 participants. :)
Maybe they use the yet unreleased "facetime for business"?
