Microsoft Outlook Updated for iOS 14, Can Be Set as Default Mail App

With iOS and iPadOS 14 available as of today, Microsoft has updated its Outlook app for iOS devices to enable support for the new iOS 14 feature that lets third-party mail and browser apps be set as default apps (via The Verge).

After installing the new version of the app, Outlook can be set to be the default mail app on your iPhone or iPad, so when you click a mail link to compose an email, it will be opened up in Outlook rather than the standard Mail app.

To set Outlook as the default, download Microsoft Outlook, open up the Settings app, scroll down and select Outlook, tap on Default Mail App, and then choose Outlook.

Expect to see other mail and browser apps implementing support for third-party details in the near future. Chrome has already updated its iOS app with support and it can now be set to replace Safari as the default browser.

Apple's Mail is perfect. If you need other mail programs e.g. for your job, of course, you should be pitied.
I my job I do work on the PC with Outlook, and I always wonder why this is so f*** bad.

With Chrome exactly the same: Apple's Safari is simply the safest and fastest. Why do I buy a Mac and then install this usual junk. To give Google data as a gift?

I do not understand why this discussion is not even over. About many other things one can be quite different opinions, but to criticize Mail and Safari is already a very strange hobby.
Seems strange to almost randomly criticize essentially any other options other than ones that someone prefers.

Apple's Mail is perfect.
I love Mail...but "perfect"??? I guess that depends on how you define perfect. The Mail app hasn't functioned properly for nearly a year now... far from perfect. I switched to Outlook on iPhone last year, and haven't looked back. Mainly because it actually works.

Laughable, to be honest. Just say it works best for you, and leave it at that.

Sorry but if you company uses Exchange........Outlook app is far better than Mail. Not to mention that mail has been having problems with notifications for a while now.

And integration between Outlook app with other Microsoft apps is perfect.

Then you must have done something wrong. I have all (many thousands of) mails for several decades (because even in times before iCloud, all Apple Mail versions were able to generate excellent backups of the database) in Apple Mail and find each one in fractions of a second on all devices.
I call something like that perfect.
LOL...there are literally thousands of posts complaining ('https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/so-im-assuming-mail-is-just-gonna-stay-broken.2210341/') about Mail...it hasn't functioned correctly since the first beta versions of ios13 thru every single release version and into ios14. Do a quick search, it is far from perfect and hasn't functioned properly in over a year. I bailed on it in the middle of iOS 13 and haven't looked back. Over 800 posts alone in just one of literally dozens of threads here ('https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/so-im-assuming-mail-is-just-gonna-stay-broken.2210341/').

You have to lose your mind to use Microsoft or google products as default on iOS.
