Frustrating to see all these great designs that are magnetic but not Magsafe.
I thinking apple must charged a premium for the magsafe licensing, so most manufacturers are forgoing this.

I thinking apple must charged a premium for the magsafe licensing, so most manufacturers are forgoing this.
A more likely reason is that magsafe works only with magsafe devices, thereby limiting the market for a particular product. A magnetic charger works with any Qi device, while also permitting magnetic attachment with phones that support it.

Just for the name? Or are you saying anything with the 15W magnet array would have to be licensed?
MagSafe accessories have a chip that communicates with the device in order to show the animation and matching color. In all likelihood this is coupled with an authentication protocol (similar to lightning charging cables) so that only licensed products are allowed the full unthrottled charging power.

I'm sure its proprietary chip authentication that allows for 15W. if its not authenticated, it goes back to the slow charge. Thats why all the 3rd party stuff is slow charge.

Either they haven't licensed it out yet and want to milk their own magsafe accessories first, or its expensive and accessory makers dont want to pay for it yet.
