When these things are on sale for less than $300, they are an incredible value. They seem to not really fit with the rest of the iPad lineup, I strongly suspect they're kept around to make it hard for a low-end tablet to make headway in the market. I use these just for web browsing and reading ebooks. They're also great for kids on car trips, cheap enough you don't have to really worry about them getting broken. I'd kind of like an iPad Air, or the 12.9 inch pro, but when these are so cheap, it's hard to pull the trigger on an upgrade.

I want to recommend this thing but that original Air form factor was such a chonky bugger, and that non-lamintaed display just looks so outdated now.
I was really holding out hope that Apple would move to the much improved Air 2 formfactor with laminated screen for this generation, but clearly that was just a bridge too far for them.

Great value!

For the average consumer, M1 MBA on sale $849 (Amazon) plus base iPad for $299 are a great combo. Most people don’t need much more, and they can take advantage of seamlessly moving between devices within the Apple ecosystem at a reasonable price. If I were a college student, this is the way I would go. Side Car and Universal Control give you a portable second screen for working on those term papers and reports.

whoa! I was expecting the 9th Gen iPad to have a sale, but not so quickly.

I had already convinced myself that I don't need a full-size iPad anymore.... and even though I don't NEED one, it is pretty irresistible at this price... THANKS WALMART! :D
