Apple today seeded the release candidate version of an upcoming macOS Sonoma 14.5 update to developers, with the software coming a week after Apple released the fourth beta.

Registered developers can opt in to the beta through the Software Update section of the System Settings app. Note that an Apple ID associated with an Apple Developer account is required to get the beta.

We don't yet know what is included in macOS Sonoma 14.5, and no new features were found in the first four developer betas.

Well this showed up at 10:10 am, and OTA was available not that long after. It was a 2 GB download. The download and prep was usual speed. The install was really quick this time. So far very sold operation.

Apple doesn’t divulge any security patches before the 14.5 public release occurs. I expect this to go public on Monday May 13th with everything else.

I wonder if it fixes the issues with Spotlight growing laggy that came with 14.4 or 14.4.1
No, it doesn’t because there isn't a problem to begin with. If spotlight is laggy on your system then you need to troubleshoot it instead of waiting for Apple to fix something that doesn’t need fixing.

Rebuild your Spotlight index. When your Spotlight search is glitchy, lagging, or refusing to work, sometimes, a quick rebuild is the best option; here's how to do it: From the main Apple menu, go to System Settings > Siri & Spotlight. Click the Spotlight Privacy button at the bottom of the page. Delete the volume, then add it back. The Spotlight database will be rebuilt for that volume.

I'm happy with no new features. Bug fixes and stability is just fine. Just updated and seems good.

Anyways, the final release cannot be too far away, right? Probably next Tuesday. Maybe even earlier.
