Apple Releases New AirPods Pro 2 Firmware

Apple today released new firmware update for both the Lightning and USB-C versions of the AirPods Pro 2. The new firmware is version 6F7, up from the 6B34 firmware released in November.

Apple does not provide details on what features might be included in the refreshed firmware beyond "bug fixes and other improvements," so it is unclear what's new in the update.

Apple does not give customers instructions on how to upgrade AirPods software, but firmware is generally installed over-the-air while the ‌‌AirPods‌‌ are connected to an iOS device. Putting the ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌ in the case, connecting the ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌ to a power source, and then pairing the ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌ to an iOS device or Mac should force the update.

You can check your ‌‌‌AirPods‌‌ firmware by following these steps:

  • Connect your ‌‌‌‌‌‌AirPods Pro‌‌‌‌‌‌ to your iOS device.
  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap General.
  • Tap About.
  • Tap ‌‌‌‌‌AirPods‌‌‌‌‌.
  • Look at the number next to "Firmware Version."

If we learn more about what's new in the firmware release, we'll update this article.

I’m waiting for reports that it plays other peoples songs and embarrassing tracks from your past that you claim you never listened to.

Apple has released an update to <insert device / software here>. Apple does not tell anyone what's in the update, or tell people how to update. Aren't release notes standard?
Is it just me or has Apple lost its way (a long time ago)?
A forced update with no release notes.

If Microsoft tried this, they'd be crucified.

Let the updating rituals begin 😂 is it case open, case closed, 30s of music in ear and then put down, or maybe plug them into a Mac, who knows

My ANC is weaker now after the update. Anyone knows when the Apple AirPods Pro 3 comes out with better ANC?
