iOS 18.1 Release Date Leaked: Here's When Apple Intelligence Launches
During its iPhone 16 event last month, Apple announced that iOS 18.1 will be released in October. Apple did not provide a specific release date, but Bloomberg's Mark Gurman this weekend said that Apple plans to release the update on Monday, October 28.

iOS 18.1 includes the first Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone, including writing tools, notification summaries, suggested replies in the Messages and Mail apps, a new "Clean Up" tool that can remove unwanted people or objects from photos, and more. Apple Intelligence is available on both iPhone 15 Pro models and all iPhone 16 models.
Apple Intelligence will initially require setting the iPhone's device and Siri language to U.S. English. Apple Intelligence is expected to gain more features and support for additional languages on a gradual basis between iOS 18.2 and iOS 18.4.
Even though Apple Intelligence is only available on newer iPhones, iOS 18.1 will be released for the iPhone XS and newer. The update includes some additional changes for Control Center, the Photos app, and more. Once it is released, the update will be available in the Settings app under General → Software Update.
