Some of the biggest services have great discounts for new and select returning members this week, including Disney+, Hulu, Paramount+, and Peacock.

Disney+ and Hulu

Starting with the Disney+ and Hulu bundle, you can get Hulu (with ads) and Disney+ (with ads) for $2.99 per month for an entire year, down from the regular $10.99 per month price. This offer is valid for new and eligible returning Hulu/Disney+ subscribers.

I’m not criticizing MR, but as a Canadian actively looking to pay money for streaming deals and bundles, these are pathetic:
Disney and Hulu seem like a good deal but the deals are only on the ad-supported tier; I’m not paying money to watch ads
Paramount is for two months, that’s a nonstarter if it goes back to the regular rate after
And Peacock is US only

I’m not paying for a subscription with ads, and I’m extremely disappointed that anyone is. The clock is ticking and it’s almost time. They’ve all increased prices now to the point that the “ad supported” plan is the same or more as the original price.

Next year one of them will announce the end of the ad free plan. I wonder who will be bold enough to make the first move. If it’s even a matter of that, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re colluding to do it around the same time.

No deals on ad-free subs? Like others I refuse to pay a sub to watch ads. I only subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV+. Netflix is the only sub that is purely for streaming because they have an unbeatable library. I was hoping for a non-ad tier deal for Disney+, but now I just sub for a month, binge what I want to watch, then unsub after

The only reason they even offer these deals is they actually make more money from ads than the ad-free subscription fee.

I love reading the comments from people who say they refuse to pay for a subscription that includes ads. I mean, more power to you, but there was a time when we all paid hundreds of dollars a month to the cable companies to get constant ads and garbage stations (and many still do). Even before that (and still) we paid hundreds of dollars on TV sets to watch TV shows with ads over the air. This is really no different. Don't think of it as paying for ads...think of it as paying for the privilege of using your mute button and getting up to pee once in a while.

So many commenters don't understand that content creators also need to get paid. Just like this site has advertising and needs to get revenue when they can provide links to retailers... they are doing it to get paid. They aren't doing it all just to entertain you for free. Just like I assume most of you don't just do everything you do for free. [rant over]
They are getting paid twice, with a subscriptions and for ads..and they are personalized ads, which are worth even more.

Growing up, we had broadcast tv until I was 17 (1997). Content provides were rolling in dough, and they didn't have to harvest our data for ads. Forgive me for not being more sympathetic.
