Apple Releases New Version of iOS 18.3 for iPhone 11

Apple today released an updated version of iOS 18.3 that's designed specifically for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The update has a build number of 22D64.

Generic iOS 18
iPhone 11 users can download the new software by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Apple first released iOS 18.3 last Monday, and it is likely that this new version has a fix for a bug that was impacting iPhone 11 models.

The main features in iOS 18.3 were Apple Intelligence related and included Visual Intelligence and changes to Notification summaries. As the iPhone 11 line does not support ‌Apple Intelligence‌, there are few features in iOS 18.3 for the devices.

The update adds a new Calculator feature that causes the last mathematical operation to repeat when pressing the equals sign, and it fixes an issue where Apple Music playback could continue until a song ends even after the app was closed.

No kidding. It'd be nice to know what that is. Not necessarily MacRumors' fault, but this withholding of information about updates is irritating.

if it’s a security exploit related to the A13 Bionic chip
If it was the case, then the iPhone SE 2nd Gen, and iPad 9th Gen would get the updated build as well as they are equipped with the A13 Bionic, but they didn't.

Be very careful. That kind of overheating can cause a fire/explosion. What I don't understand is why you haven't already returned the phone to Apple. Are you really OK with the battery drain and overheating?
Actually,

On 2/1 I went into an Apple Store for a Genius Bar Appt. Returned two hours later only to find out they did not even have the battery in stock for replacement.

Told another store had the part.

On 2/2 went into the store I was referred to with a Genius Bar appointment.

Two hours later I was given the phone back with a new display, since they damaged it while trying to replace the battery. However, it still had the same dying battery installed.

I was told this time that their battery replacements (Two actually) did not work correctly after install. This was all the stock they had.

They ultimately ordered a full replacement phone and it should be here by the end of the week.

Funny enough, Apple gave zero warnings about fire or hazard.

Apple software is so much buggier than it used to be.

I have a 15 pro and have the emoji keyboard issue from 18.0 back on 18.3 that was solved temporarily with 18.2!

Not good Apple, I feel iOS needs its own Snow Leopard moment.

I suspect that the issue was with the installation of 18.3 on the iPhone 11 series, so if you already have successfully installed it then there is no reason to go for the revised build.

As an iPhone 11 Pro owner, has anyone found iOS 18 better than 17? I’m hesitant to update after reading so many complaints.
I can chime in and say that iOS 18 runs very well on my iPhone 11 and I wouldn't hesitate installing it. I enjoy some of the changes made to customizing the layout and appearance of the home screen, which alone make the update worthwhile. The new customization features for control center are also a significant improvement. I also like other little improvements such as the Passwords app and things like the math recognition. If anything my battery life has improved with iOS 18 over 17.

Did a "broken" version accidentally enable Apple Intelligence for iPhone 11? :D
