In select U.S. states, residents can add their driver's license or state ID to the Wallet app on the iPhone and Apple Watch, providing a convenient and contactless way to display proof of identity or age at select airports and businesses, and in select apps.
This week, Apple announced the 10th U.S. state that has implemented the feature: Montana.

Apple says travelers should refer to TSA checkpoint signage to confirm availability of the feature.
Apple Wallet IDs can also be used to show proof of age or identity at select businesses and venues in the U.S., but there is no list of locations.
Digital ID
In addition to driver's licenses and state IDs, iOS 26 is introducing a new Digital ID, which can be created based on a U.S. passport. Apple says iPhone users can present this Digital ID in person at select TSA checkpoints for identity verification purposes during domestic travel within the U.S., but it is not a replacement for a physical passport, and it cannot be used for international travel and border crossing in lieu of a U.S. passport.

I'm in Florida and I've lost hope. We were supposed to get a replacement by now, but nothing has been announced. At least there is the passport option now? Also, I believe TPA now supports digital ID's because there were terminals for it and it was being advertised in the TSA line.
Correct me if I'm wrong: none of those 10 states actually state that the digital ID can be used in lieu of the actual ID card. Nor does the federal gov. Until that changes, carry your ID when leaving your home.
These digital IDs are completely useless. They aren’t accepted anywhere, all the airports that say they are accepted I’ve never once had it work, and even picking up an online order at the Apple Store they wouldn’t accept my digital ID and made me show my physical ID. If these were adopted like Apple Pay was it would be cool, but it’s entirely useless. Nice try though.

Yeah, in California anyway, you still have to carry your physical driver license, so the digital one is nearly useless. But maybe this is the thin end of the wedge
