If you think that’s fun in any kind of way you know absolutely nothing. It’s a typical MacRumors comment as snarky & mean spirited meaningless nonsense. AIDS sure as hell exists now, but it doesn’t need to. We have all the tools we need to put an end to this miserable, horrific pandemic. I can say that I donated far more than 0.003% of my annual income.

I bet Apple has “contributed” more to the corrupt Trump Administration this year than all of their charitable donations combined.

And yes, I realize Apple is a business and bribery openly rules the day in Washington D.C. now, which is why it’s ridiculous when people feel the need to defend, “whataboutism”, or carry their water for them.

Corporations engage in many, many practices to try and bend the law and pay as little taxes as they can. And they do illegal things because they have enough power to defy nations.
In this case, they decided not to pay some of their taxes in Italy for more than a billion for years because they knew that, if Italy accused them, it is very common for large tax evaders to settle for less than they have evaded and that's what happened.
They sold stuff in Italy. They pretended the transaction happened with their Irish (the EU tax haven) branch by billing it as such and calling everything that happened in Italy (resellers and workers) just consultants. It was very, very clear that it was just a trick and that they should have billed them as italian transactions as all competitors did.

Tax evasion always has "nuance" as you call it. It's never "they asked me to pay $13B and I just paid $30". It's usually telling "half truths" and calling things with clearly wrong names. Italian law was very clear and those transactions happened on Italian territory. There was zero ambiguity.

Counting for what they saved and interest, they got a great deal. In corporate terms (=only money matters) they've done the right thing. In legal and ethical terms, all people responsible for this should rot in jail.
I'm proud to pay taxes (lots of taxes) in here because if you're sick, the healthcare system literally doesn't even ask you for a document before saving your life. And this is why I hate those who try not to pay taxes for profit. People are literally dying because of their greed. And I hate that they try to pretend they're good people and so many fools believe them.

Not sure what fairy tale book told you corporations don't evade taxes. Google what happened, I'm surely not the best at describing it but it's pretty well documented.

The people who defend Tim Cook’s corporate greed sympathize with billionaires over poor people. They think the so-called “rights” of billionaires is more important than the fundamental human right of healthcare for all.

The Cook supporters sound like Ayn Rand. They think poor people are less human than billionaires. That’s why they support American-style capitalism, which in reality is socialism for corporations.

They constantly criticize socialism, but in reality, this is what they support: Socialism for the rich, capitalism for the poor.

I can't believe anyone is throwing them bouquets for such an incredibly paltry charity effort.
