Samsung Smart Monitor M9 Hits Record Low Price on Amazon at $300 Off, Plus More Monitor Deals

$300 discount is not enough. I wouldn't buy it even for $300.

I rather pay $1600 for a Studio Display, or if I'm in budget, I would pay $700 for an Asus 5K monitor, but won't use Samsung sh.t even if it's free.

I understand that Samsung is a sponsor for this site, and I'm glad it's helping Macrumors to exist, but I will no longer own devices from a brand that caused endless problems to me with every single purchase. Whether it's a consumer electronics device, or a kitchen appliance, or an SSD. I haven't owned a single Samsung device that didn't fail.

What's smart about it? Does is show ads like other Samsung crap?

Does anyone (other than a professional colorist) really spend over $1K on a computer monitor?? Seems insane.

Retinal resolution, OLED types of displays are still $1K or more. If it’s 4K and LCD you can pick those for sub $1K.

One doesn’t have to be a Professional for those displays just higher personal preferences and standards. 4K on anything 27” or higher looks terrible with macOS. I guess part of it is Apples fault.

I recently got the 43-inch Odyssey Neo G7 for $500 on Amazon and I generally hate the thing. The "smart" stuff causes the whole screen to wake up slow... slower than the mac wakes up and unlocks via apple watch. This causes it to often completly forget and reset the settings. I have to then set the resolution, the arrangment among my other monitors, and then repostion all my windows. A a workaround, I turned off watch unlock and wait the 15+ seconds for it to fully wake up and then I unlock the mac. It helps.. but it still happens.

The mac treats it like a TV or projector asking to either extend or mirror rather than just treating it like a monitor. I suspect this is part of the problem but I couldn't find a way to have it "act like a monitor". Samsung is more interested in bundleing all the other crap with it that degrades it's primary function. I don't need my monitor to have a Netflix app.

When its "asleep" it tends to wake up seemingly on its own and show a bright blue "no signal" screen for like 2 min.. then turns off again. I don't think its the mac's notification, or LAN wake, etc. I tried to solve this issue also.

This morning, actually, I gave up and removed it from my desk and went back to my LG of the same size that is 10 years old or so. Still superior in a lot of ways. It connects with USB-C with PD which is ideal. The backlight sometimes turns off for a few seconds so I was looking to find a replacement. The G7 is now connected as the only device on a gaming PC. I suspect it should work "fine" there.. but I've already seen it randomly wake up with the "no signal" screen.

I'm still on the hunt for a replacement monitor. The large, 3840x2160 aspect ratio, gives me the four 1080 quadrants that's perfect for my workflow. I don't know why its so difficult (or expensive) to find a replacment that is 42", USB-C, Matte screen, at that ratio. I might switch to a 5k2k ultra-wide but I dunno... the one I found (usb-c, matte) is like $1,500 and has an 800R curve which is too agressive. Other options are cheap, no-name brands with sketchy reviews. Dell has some options... I don't know.. It's all very frustrating.

I'm done with Samsung for monitors. I tried another samsung before the G7 also. It was glossy.

Anything Samsung you know that ads will be displayed sooner or later. I am sure your viewing habits are being monitored and tracked as well.

Samsung is contracted with Israeli software firm that installs tracking software on their smartphones so….

You couldn't pay me to take a Samsung garbage monitor again. Bought the 5k one which developed lines within 6 months. Took tens of hours to get it sent for repair and since the lines only developed only being on for hours, they told me if they don't find the problem I lose my warranty and have to pay to send back the piece of junk. Fortunately they did ultimately replace it and I sold that junk for a $500 loss and bought the Asus 5k instead.
