Fourth macOS Tahoe 26.4 Beta Now Available for Developers [Update: Public Beta Available]

Apple today provided the fourth beta of an upcoming macOS Tahoe 26.4 update to developers for testing purposes, with the update coming a week after Apple seeded the third beta.

macOS Tahoe 26 Thumb 2
Developers can download the ‌macOS Tahoe‌ 26.4 update by opening up the System Settings app, selecting the General category, and then choosing Software Update. Beta Updates will need to be enabled, and a free developer account is required.

‌macOS Tahoe‌ 26.4 adds a new Charge Limit feature so Mac users can select a maximum charge level that ranges from 80 to 100 percent. Apple also brought back the Compact tab layout in Safari for those who missed the option in earlier versions of ‌macOS Tahoe‌.

Apple silicon Macs who are running apps that still rely on Rosetta will see warnings about the upcoming end of support for Rosetta. After ‌macOS Tahoe‌ 27, Apple will phase out Rosetta support, and all apps will need to be updated before that time.

‌macOS Tahoe‌ 26.4 will be released to the public in the spring after several weeks of beta testing.

They've basically stripped all value to this .4 release. There's literally nothing of note here
- You have too much time on your hands but utilise it wrongly
Or
- You have a very common in these days total, absolute lack of interest in anything not meeting your personal criteria; which needless to say, Apple should follow and promptly, heaven forbid they lose you

For myself?
26.4 is the first step towards adding/improving meaningful things. Not surface, not shiny pebbles to the natives.
Such as the charge limit, which should have been welcome by anyone and was very, unnecessarily long overdue.

The ones before it (mostly 26.3 but 26.2 as well) were also a positive, as a number of small but very annoying bugs were fixed. Quelle surprise, haven't seen even one of them mentioned here, but, that's a different topic.
Or perhaps not, given how often i come across comments such as yours in this forum.

This.. "overly critical" stance can be tiring; most of all though it's quite unproductive. Plus, it leads to a certain 'vibe' all around that really discourages proper conversation.

It looks like Intego was the issue for me too. Updated just fine with antivirus realtime disabled. Thanks for sharing.

will not install over beta 3 for me. Presumably network filter issues. Feedback reported
full installer is already available here https://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/60/15/047-91434-A_FQPAFXFJOS/u86xsrbqtv7jwftyjkiaoq93xh3uurmjwn/InstallAssistant.pkg

so maybe give that a go.

No rosetta? So I can't use apples airport utility? Why?
Rosetta is still present, there are just now warnings that pop up indicating software that may eventually be unsupported. Rosetta will continue to be a feature in macOS 27 coming out this fall, but in macOS 28 and later they will start rolling back the feature to only "unmaintained games." What that looks like nobody knows.
