Apple's 50th Anniversary Events Continue in UK, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Thailand, and Beyond

Apple has been celebrating its upcoming 50th anniversary by hosting special events around the world, making stops in the United States, China, South Korea, and Thailand so far. Over the coming days, the celebrations will continue in the UK, France, Canada, Mexico, India, Japan, and Australia, while China will get an encore performance.

MacRumors has been invited to attend one of Apple's 50th-anniversary celebrations in London this week, but we are keeping specific details under wraps in order to avoid spoiling Apple's surprise. Stay tuned for our coverage of the event.

Apple Stores in Paris, France and Vancouver, Canada will be hosting special Today at Apple sessions tied to the company's 50th anniversary this week, with more details about those events outlined in our previous reporting.

Apple is also planning to host celebrations in Mexico, India, and Japan over the coming days, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Apple and the Sydney Opera House in Australia recently announced a collaboration, and we reported that this will tie into Apple's 50th-anniversary celebrations.

On his Instagram page last week, Australian composer Bailey Pickles said Apple asked him to compose and perform music for its upcoming 50th-anniversary celebration at the Opera House, where Apple will soon be illuminating artwork.

From March 25 to March 27, the Opera House's eastern sails will be illuminated with artwork created in the Procreate app on the iPad by a group of 10 emerging Australian artists. Through free Today at Apple sessions earlier this month, the public also had the opportunity to create and submit artwork for potential illumination.

Apple said selected artworks from both commissioned artists and public submissions will be curated and projected onto the Opera House's eastern sails on March 25 at 8:30 p.m. local time, and on March 26 and March 27 at 8 p.m. local time. Pickles did not say exactly when he will be performing at the world-famous venue, but it is clear that the 50th-anniversary celebration will involve a mix of artwork and music.

China is getting an encore 50th-anniversary celebration, as Apple will be hosting a special Today at Apple session at its Jing'an store in Shanghai, China on March 28, and there may be a surprise performance outside of the store as well.

Finally, there may be a grand finale at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, although this event might be limited to Apple's employees.

"At Apple, we're more focused on building tomorrow than remembering yesterday," said Apple's CEO Tim Cook, in a public letter. "But we couldn't let this milestone pass without thanking the millions of people who make Apple what it is today."

Wow, Apple is sure spending a lot of money to celebrating the 50th anniversary of their founding. I wonder if they are going to pay one of Apple’s only three founders, Ronald Wayne, to be a part of the celebration? Wayne is reported to be poor, and thus could really use the money.

Considering how Tim Cook behaves like he hates poor people, it wouldn’t be surprising if he didn’t pay Wayne, nor even invite him. Cook would rather pay large sums of money to pop stars to be a part of the celebration.

Apple wasn’t founded by a celebrity. It was founded by only three men, only two of whom are still alive. Shouldn’t a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Apple be focused on its founders?

It’s sickening that Cook might not pay Wayne, let alone invite him, but would rather pay celebrities large sums money to be there.

i didn't know about ronald wayne at all, let alone that he was in difficult situation.
it sure seems that the least apple could do is to take care of its own.
if they have no humanity left in them, as it is often the case with big companies, they could just help him for that, to be able to talk about their history or origins without making fools of themselves. i think i would offer him a start level position in the company and trying to help him reach higher positions until he seems happy about it.. i mean if he have no technical background or things like that, then try to help him reach acceptable knowledge in a language or into computer networking in general ..for example.. and then when he have sufficient level give him a better corresponding position.
but first things first, i would ensure he have at least a roof and can secure a minimum decent living. if he can stay clean and pose no big problems then it would be an easy thing for a company like apple to help him like that, very little cost and all and yet helping the man for real.

about invitation though... i don't know about ronald wayne but personally i would never go to such event like that, judging from the pictures above, it would be very high in my priorities of things to avoid. i hate "bling orgies" like that. it can only result in utterly wasted time. looking a the hint to "artists" representations pictured above, that would be very hard on me too. i'd prefer breaking one of my leg rather than having to be there even for just an hour.

apple was "thinking different" yes .. before ..
in the steve jobs era. there was actual good thinking going on. nowadays, everything apple does "feels very wrong". that should be your new motto for the tim cook era.

- removing x86 (32bits) support
- removing x86_64 support soon (currently provided by rosetta)
- macos alone without /Users/ weight 150gb
- no interoperability with other OSes FS (etx4, ntfs, btrfs, ..)
- bad opengl and no vulkan support
- UI/UX feels like done by a junior designer since bigsur (level like: entreprise stage for school, 6months experience total noob.. white on white separation of panel UI elements, stacking transparent panels, reduced legibility, etc. etc. etc.. it's abysmal .. a whole collection of the big "never do that" points)
- restrictions all over the place, cannot even pick my own font to display the system.
- no proper uninstall/clean support, junk accumulates and maintenance cleaning is a recurring chore. wasting time for something the OS should do not the user. (just throwing a bundle app in the trash is not enough)

i could go on for an hour long like that, line after line.
macos is in an abominable state.
